The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is the entry-level netbook in the Inspiron Mini line. It packs a lot of features and value into its small footprint and represents a great value compared to other netbooks in its class. The Dell Mini 9 sports an 8.9-inch WSVGA LED backlit display with a glossy finish. The display does a great job of presenting both documents and video and since it’s a widescreen it allows you to enjoy your movies in their original format. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 also includes a 1.3 Megapixel camera mounted in the display that allows you to easily chat with friends or attend a video conference. Having it mounted in the display places it in the perfect position to use it when the display is tilted up and you are working.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 features an Intel Atom N270 processor that runs at an amazing 1.6 GHz and is coupled with 1GB of main memory. This allows you to easily run your processor and memory intensive programs without any problems on the Dell Inspiron Mini. The Dell Mini allows you to configure the main storage with up to 16GB of solid-state disk to give you plenty of space for your content and programs. The Dell Mini comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition and is ready to go right out of the box. It is shipped standard with a 4-cell Lithium-Ion battery, which will give up close to 4 hours of use on a full charge so you have plenty of time to work when you’re on the go.

In terms of connections, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 provides three high-speed USB connections that allow you to connect a load of peripherals to the netbook. It also includes a VGA connector for an external monitor as well as an RJ-45 network connection in case you want to connect into a hardwired network. The Dell Mini 9 netbook also includes a 3-in-1 card reader to make transferring content to your new netbook easy. Rounding out the compliment of connections are an input for a microphone and a standard connector for external speakers.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook provides a few wireless options as well and you can connect to a Wifi network through an internal 802.11g card. The Dell Mini also provides an option for a Bluetooth 2.0 connection if you want to be able to easily synchronize your phone or use a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The packaging on the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is excellent as well and provides a larger keyboard than most netbooks to make typing easier. The keyboard is actually 89% the size of a normal keyboard and because there is very little key bounce, it is very easy to type on. There is also a very sensitive mouse pad located below the keyboard with the familiar right / left mouse keys. The design also provides a bit of a rest area at the bottom of the keyboard for your palms to make typing more comfortable. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a very well designed and well-made entry into the netbook market from a company who knows how to make laptops. It provides a wide range of essential features for a very attractive price.
