According to reports a number of retailers are now taking pre-orders for the new Acer convertible netbook in the UK, although it is unlikely that the netbook will be actually released before Christmas.

Netbooks are a popular choice of gift for many people at this time of year, and the great choice of netbooks out there makes it easier for consumers to find something that is well suited to their needs or the needs of the recipient, and still within their budget. It has been announced that some retailers are now taking pre-orders for a new Acer convertible netbook but those hoping to get their hands on it may be disappointed as most thing it will not be officially released in the UK until after Christmas.

The new Acer convertible laptop that is being launched is the Acer Aspire 1820PTZ netbook, which is an 11.6 inch convertible tablet. Whilst not concrete date has been given for the official release of the netbook it is widely thought that it will not be before Christmas, which means that those hoping to give this netbook as a gift may well be disappointed, as will those hoping to receive it as a gift this Christmas.

Many of the retailers that have been taking pre-orders for the netbook have listed around mid or late January as the release date. The netbook is retailing for around £530 upwar5ds depending on the retailer. The netbook is said to be very similar to the 1820PT but also boasts an ‘Intel Dual Core’ processor according to reports.

The netbook is slim and sleek in design, and boasts a multi touch display and an eight hour battery life. The netbook will also come with 3GB RAM, a 160GB HDD and 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.
