The largest handset manufacturer in the world, Nokia has become one of the latest entrants into the increasingly popular netbook market with the release of its new Booklet 3G, which has come as no surprise to many experts.
The Booklet 3G is quite a late entry in what is now quite a crowded netbook markets and in an effort to bring netbooks and smartphones closer together Nokia has included a number of features including its design and an incredible 12-hour battery life that will allow it stand out from the rest.
As the first PC to be released by Nokia, the Booklet 3G is a surprisingly sleek and stylish unit. With an aluminium chassis and a mirrorlike glossy finish the new Nokia has an almost silky smooth design. With a weight of just over 1kg and a thickness of around 20mm the Booklet 3G is a slimline design with a sleek and polished look bought out by its neatly rounded edges. The device also comes in black, white and blue for those who are look for something a little more colourful than the standard silver case colour.
The touchpad on the Booklet 3G isn’t too sensitive whilst its keyboard offers exceptional tactile feedback and the key are well laid out. The 16-cell battery is one of the biggest features as it offers users a huge usage time of 12 hours.
Nokia has provided its expertise in designing the battery and the extra bulk created by this 16-cell battery does not show, although it is the biggest seen in a netbook so far. The netbook beautifully blends its slimline user-removable battery.
Although there has yet to be an announcement of any pricing plans and UK partnership the Booklet 3G from Nokia has been made available in Germany at a cost of €249 (£230) for the netbook and then a 24 month charge of €20 (£18) per month.
